What does FTM surgery include?
Female-to-male surgery can include chest surgery (mastectomy or top surgery), lower surgery such as phalloplasty or metoidioplasty, facial masculinisation and voice surgery. Most patients start with top surgery. Operations are performed by partner plastic surgeons in Turkey; Neda Deniz is a patient advisor, not a surgeon, and coordinates your care.
How long is recovery after FTM surgery?
Recovery depends on the procedure. As a general guide, chest surgery takes about two to four weeks, facial surgery four to six weeks, and lower surgery six to twelve weeks before you return to normal routines. Your surgeon gives you a personal recovery plan, including when it is safe to fly home.
Do I need hormone therapy before FTM surgery?
Many surgeons recommend around 12 months of hormone therapy before some procedures, together with a gender dysphoria assessment, but this is not always required. Requirements differ between surgeons and between top surgery and lower surgery. We confirm exactly what your surgeon needs, including medical documents, during your free consultation.
